Brendan Rodgers has hailed Youri Tielemans as the brains of Leicester City’s midfield and hopes he will extend his contract. After scoring a goal in the team’s win over Brentford,
Tielemans pulled the trigger from 25 yards to put the Foxes ahead but Brentford were able to equalize. Even so, he was the one who gave Patson Dakar a pass to pass James Maddison to score a goal that led the team to victory.
The Belgium international’s current contract expires in 2023 so the Foxes fear they will have to sell their prized asset next summer or risk losing him for nothing a year later.
Tielemans’ representatives remain in talks, and their hand will be even stronger after the 24-year-old’s display in west London.
The away fans made their feelings clear at the end by singing “sign him up”, and Rodgers said: “Naturally it’s one the club will do everything they possibly can in order to keep Youri.

The fans who followed cheered shouted at him telling him to extend Tielemans’ contract and Rodgers replied:
“My focus is on helping him to become the best player he can be. It’s between his agents and the club and hopefully they’ll find a solution
. He creates chances, he scores and he is truly our midfield brain.”
